Yes, I had a hard time cutting gorgeous 900 + $ YSL boots off like a pair of old levis even if they were a few seasons old. But in the end, I just knew I'd wear them way way more if I relieved my booties of their tops. For the fashion purists, I know it's a bit a sacrilege - like taking the belt off a Birken or sawing the chainlink off a Chanel 2.55. Of course they are fab, they now suit you much better. I have been wanting to cut off a pair of my own boots for a while and keep chickening out even though they are not YSL! Any tips or tricks re: boot-cutting technique? How did you figure out the right height to cut them to? I have an idea of where I want mine to hit but am very fearful that once they are cut I'll discover that I should have left an extra inch or something.
